Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer among women? Many don’t realize this, but it is. How common? About 1 in 8 women will develop it over “her” lifetime. Alarming, right? In 2015, it's estimated just under 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers, which is down from what it used to be.

About 231,840 women in the United States were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer by the end of 2015. Of that number, 40,290 will die. But take heart! Many more survive, due in large part to the incredible wealth of information on the benefits of early detection, using self breast exams, increased mammography screening and improved treatments. One thing we know for sure: early detection saves lives!
If detected in the earliest stages, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is 100%. Amazing! Today, there are over 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
The safety and effectiveness of the MammoSite Radiation Therapy System (RTS), MammoSite ML Radiation Therapy System and the Contura Applicator as a replacement for whole breast irradiation in the treatment of breast cancer has not been established.
